"Fly Me To The Moon" - The Engine That Won WW ll - Jay Leno's Garage

If you have ever seen a WW II era aircraft power through the sky, the engine sound is as distinctive as it gets. As our home office is located near Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport with two nearby air bases, we can count on seeing WW II planes overhead at least once every Independence Day.

In this video Jay shares the story behind this engine and gives us a first hand look at running it outdoors. So what's an aircraft engine have to do with Classic cars? Well, Jay has two vintage cars powered by the same 1,390 HP  Merlin.
If the above video gave you the "goose bumps" you may want to attend the Atlanta Warbird Weekend event, October 7th & 8th at the Dekalb Peachtree Airport. Visit their site for more info. If you can afford the cost ($$$$$) you can hitch a ride in a B-17, trainer or dive bomber.
