Love Of A Classic Can Be Priceless

MONEY ISN'T EVERYTHING...
IT'S ABOUT "THE EXPERIENCE"
Wellborn Muscle Car Museum's 1971 "Plum Crazy"
Dodge Hemi Charger R/T Sold During the Mecum Auction
Today television viewers had an opportunity to watch the owner of a classic car turn away an offer that was certainly generous, but not enough to break a bond she had with "her" favorite car.

Prior to today's Mecum Auction in Florida, Pam Wellborn was asked if any of the 24 classic cars from the Wellborn Muscle Car Museum was her favorite. Those who know Pam, acknowledge purple is her favorite color, so when she cited the "Plum Crazy" Dodge Hemi Charger R/T, it came as no big shock to most.
1971 "Jamaica Blue" Dodge Hemi Charger R/T - Still Part Of The Wellborn Collection
What was the surprise was Pam announcing the '71 "Jamaica Blue" Hemi Charger R/T was in fact her favorite and would be the most difficult car to see sold.

As things turned out for Pam, she is able to return to the Museum in Alexander City, AL with the Jamaica Blue Charger still part of the family.

When first failing to meet their defined Reserve Price, Pam was "encouraged" to release the car from reserve and let it cross the block.  Mecum should have known better - this car was going home to Alabama...

You did well, Pam - your dedication to classic muscle cars and your favorite MOPAR classic in particular was inspiring.

Drive in good health ~
