Irony has a way of showing up in humor. In this case, Homers car was downright ugly and priced at over $82,000 ($128,000 in 2014 dollars) instantly putting Herb's (Homer's long-lost brother) company out of business. The irony is there are echoes of real world mega-flops like the Edsel and the Tucker Torpedo.
