REPORT ON THE CLASSIC CAR MARKET - Part 1

UP, UP, and AWAY!

"...over the past five years, classic cars have outperformed virtually every other market commodity - and then some..."

"Of all the alternative investments, classic cars have
returned the most since 2005, rising by 257%, outpacing
all other investments by more than 80 percentage points
over a seven and a half year time frame."

"And here’s a thought to whet the appetite: there are still plenty of classic cars out there that haven’t increased in value yet,
but – believe me – they soon will."

Wealth Division of Royal Bank of Scotland Group - December 2013

ARE YOU PREPARING FOR THE CHANGING MARKET?

Most likely, the majority of people reading this article are already Classic car owners. We also expect that people who don't currently own a Classic car, might want to obtain one soon...very soon.

Tim Wellborn reviewing proper documentation
Most every Expert Collector understands and relies upon  proper and complete documentation of their collection to establish it's value. The history, photos, paperwork, and stories attached to each car brings validity and confidence to the vehicle's value. Should you have an opportunity to speak with an experienced collector, they will confirm the importance a collection's details be well organized and available.

But even the Expert Collectors must take additional measures to protect this valuable and historical information from accidental and catastrophic loss.

As an owner of a Classic aged vehicle, we encourage you to begin the process of organizing and protecting all available information regarding your car then develop a process to protect all of it from loss.

WHY?

It's simple. Because should the market change as anticipated, those vehicles with the highest degree of documentation will command the highest values.

DOCUMENT, DOCUMENT, DOCUMENT

You may be familiar with the variety of television shows where cars, objects, and antiques are presented for appraisal or purchase. Regardless of the item, the owners are asked the very same question virtually every time. "Do you have proof?"

We are also painfully aware of the consequences when little or no proof is available. The value of the item is reduced to that of any similar common item.

So without proof of the restorative work performed on your Classic, the associated list of parts, pictures, and stories, there is little to separate your Classic's value from any other similar model.

SORRY - YOU CAN'T INCREASE THE VALUE
OF YOUR CLASSIC BY 15% IN 15 MINUTES

But, you can do most of the work yourself and with minimal or no cost. It will take some time and the better the effort you put into your documentation, the better your reward.

BUT I DON'T OWN A $1,000,000 CLASSIC VEHICLE!

Regardless of the type or class of car you own, that shouldn't stop you from getting started on the process of recording the details of your Classic.

If the experts are correct and the market begins a general shift towards higher values, much in the same way real estate prices have been known to change, the trickle down (or the fountain up) effect could be significant.

GARAGISTRY IS HERE TO HELP YOU
