Race On Sunday, Sell On Monday

IS NOT UNIQUE TO AMERICA

There's an old saying around the US car makers, "Race on Sunday, Sell on Monday". The goal is to benefit by thrashing production models on the race track, creating an aura of success while working out weak points only years of real-world use would otherwise uncover.

"Legend" would have it, the cause and saying is uniquely American. Guess again, it's universal.
