USPS ISSUES MUSCLE CARS FOREVER®

Issue Date: February 22, 2013

Even if you are not known as a philatelist (stamp collector), you might want to rush down to the local Post Office or visit the USPS site to grab your Muscle Cars (Forever®) stamps.

The newest USPS release celebrates five iconic automobiles and the adventurous spirit of the muscle-car era.

About the Artist

Artist Tom Fritz based his artwork on photographs of the cars. Fritz said he used bright-colored oil paints on hardboard to try to “capture the emotive quality of the vehicles.” Growing up in Southern California, Fritz became familiar with the power of muscle cars. The paintings, Fritz added, are “a projection of my memories of the vehicles.”

How to get your Muscle Cars Forever® Stamps

The Muscle Cars stamps are being issued as Forever® stamps in self-adhesive sheets of 20 (4 of each design). There are additional commemorative stamp packages only available on the USPS site, ranging from first day of issue with special postmark (seen above) to full uncut sheets suitable for framing. Prices range from $4.50 to $92.00.

Muscle Cars is the third issuance in the America on the Move series. The stamps were designed by art director Carl T. Herrman. The first issuance in the series, 50s Sporty Cars (2005), was followed by 50s Fins and Chrome (2008).

P.S-After doing a few online searches, we found out there are still a few sets of these 2005 and 2008 series available for sale and at very reasonable prices.
